Q1. (b) “Education is not an injunction; it is an effective and pervasive tool for all-round development of an individual and social transformation.”

Examine the New Education Policy, 2020 (NEP, 2020) in light of the above statement. (150 words) 10 Marks

Answer

An injunction is a legal remedy in the form of a special court order that compels a party to do or refrain from specific acts.

Therefore, enforcing injunction on education through the enactment of the Right to Education Act 2009 was good in intention but missed the whole point of using education as an effective tool for social transformation.

While the Right to Education Act offers the first step towards an inclusive education system in India, effective implementation of the same still remains a challenge.

In fact, the Right to Education (RTE) Forum’s Stocktaking Report 2014 suggested
